Israel sees risks, opportunities in Bab el-Mandeb
Threats to international shipping may present Israel with the chance to tighten ranks with Saudi Arabia.The Israeli Prime Minister, not known for his subtlety, threatened that “if Iran tries to block the strait of Bab el-Mandeb, I am certain that it will find itself confronting an international coalition that will be determined to prevent this, and this coalition will also include all of Israel’s military branches.” Protecting trade with China is the reason.
