101st Airborne, US Special Forces Called Into Ghazni Battle
[Funker] To keep the city of Ghazni from totally collapsing into Taliban control, the Pentagon has sent units from the 101st Airborne Division, 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade, as well as US Army Special Forces "Green Berets" to assist the Afghan National Army in stomping out the attacking insurgents.The 101st Airborne Apache attack helicopters have been pummeling Taliban positions for days, and combat "advisor" troops currently of the 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade are augmenting Afghan National Army units on the streets of Ghazni. The arrival of the American troops immediately turned the tide of the fight as mixed reports indicate that the Taliban insurgents have been pushed out of the city into the outlying suburbs and rural areas.
