Egypt police foil attack on North Sinai checkpoint; kill four terrorists: MENA
[AlAhram] Egyptian police have killed four holy warriors who attempted to carry out an attack on a security checkpoint on the coastal highway of North Sinai's El-Arish, MENA state news agency reported on Saturday, citing an informed source.

The source said that the attackers were armed with heavy weapons, including a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.

Some of the holy warriors involved in the attack managed to flee the scene.
... as though they had never been...
leaving behind 10 explosive charges that they had planned to use in the attack.

The attackers left behind four automatic weapons, 30 magazines, a number of RPG missiles, three boom belts, a camera, a Motorola communication device and hand grenades, according to the source.

The incident comes amid Egypt's ongoing Operation Sinai 2018, launched on 9 February "to implement the plan of comprehensive confrontation of terrorist and criminal elements and organizations in North and Central Sinai, and in other areas in the Nile Delta and desert areas west of the Nile Valley," according to the Armed Forces.
Ynet adds:
Local media published pictures of at least two men, one lying on an asphalt road and another on the sand, and separate photographs of weapons found on them, including four AK-47 assault rifles, one RPG launcher, gun magazines and what appeared as suicide belts.
