ISIS inflicts heavy casualties on Syrian troops as they launch major counter-offensive in southern Syria

(ISIS) launched a major counter-offensive, overnight, in the eastern countryside of the Sweida Governorate, a Syrian military source told al-Masdar News this morning. According to the military source, the Islamic State stormed the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at the southwestern axis of the al-Safa Mountain; this would result in a fierce battle that is still ongoing at the moment. The source said that the Islamic State managed to drive back the Syrian Arab Army troops from several points they liberated on Friday. In addition to driving back government forces, the Islamic State also killed and maimed more than 40 members from the Syrian Arab Army and National Defense Forces (NDF). While ISIS lost more than 30 fighters during the previous battle, they were able to regroup and restore several crucial points they lost to the Syrian Arab Ary.
