Japanese journalist hostage freed after 3-year captivity in Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Japanese journalist Jumpei Yasuda was freed after being held hostage in Syria for more than three years, footage filmed on Wednesday in Antakya.

In his short statement Jumpei Yasuda confirmed his identity and the details of his captivity: "My name is Jumpei Yasuda, Japanese journalist. I have been held in Syria for 40 months. Now I’m in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Yasuda was reportedly taken hostage by a holy warrior group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham
in Syria in 2015, where he went to report on the civil war.

The release was reportedly facilitated by Qatar
