Speaking to BasNews website, Col. Thamer Abdullah said "Islamic State members executed five civilians after being previously kidnapped." They were executed for gathering information about the Lion of Islam group and cooperation with the Iraqi army in west of Mosul, Abdullah said adding that "the bodies of the victims were transferred to the health department in Baaj. Twelve Islamic State members arrested, west of Mosul: Interior Ministry Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Twelve Islamic State members were arrested in several regions across the western side of Mosul, the Iraqi Interior Ministry\s Security Media Center said on Friday. In a statement, the center said Nineveh police managed to “arrest 12 Islamic State members, who have arrest warrants issued against them over terrorism charges.” Some of the militants, according to the statement, “used to work for the group’s security and Hisbah (Vigilantism) departments. Others were working for the Zakat (Alms) and soldiers departments, while the group was in control of Mosul city.” The arrests took place in districts of al-Zahraa, Tess’ein, al-Baladiyat, al-Abar and al-Wihda in west of Mosul.
