Explosion in Kabul leaves at least 26 dead, wounded
[KhaamaPress] At least twenty six people were killed or maimed in an kaboom triggered by a suicide kaboom in Kabul city earlier this afternoon.

Deputy front man for the Ministry of Interior Nusrat Rahimi said the blast left six dead and at least twenty others maimed.

Interior Ministry front man Najib Danish had earlier confirmed a suicide attack has taken place close to Estiqlal High School and preliminary reports indicate at least ten people were killed or maimed in the attack.

The Ministry of Public Health had also said earlier at least three people have been killed and at least eight others have sustained injuries in the attack.

This comes as protests are underway not far from the area where the kaboom took place this afternoon.

Hundreds of protesters marched towards Presidential Palace in Kabul late last night demanding President Ghani’s immediate actions regarding the recent wave of violence which struck two districts in Ghazni and another district in Uruzan province, mainly inhabited by Hazara

s of Afghanistan.

The protesters have gathered near the road leading towards Presidential Palace and demand President Ghani to issue a decree to suppress the Talibs.

No individual or group has so far grabbed credit behind the incident.

group claimed a suicide kaboom that killed six people in Kabul on Monday and maimed 20 others, its propaganda agency Amaq said.

"A suicide attacker wearing an explosives belt hits a gathering of Shiites near the presidential palace... in Kabul," Amaq said.

Afghan interior ministry front man Najib Danish said the blast struck in front of a high school in the downtown area of the Afghan capital, near the presidential palace.

Initial reports indicated most of the victims were members of the security forces, but Danish said civilians, including several women, had borne the brunt of the carnage.
And from Tolo News:
The explosion happened just after 1.30pm local time.

According to a ministry of interior spokesman, a suicide bomber detonated his explosives after being spotted by police.

Hundreds of protesters have been gathered in the area throughout the day after marching to the Presidential Palace early Monday in protest over the lack of security and ongoing Taliban threats in Ghazni and Uruzgan provinces.

Security had been tightened from early morning in the area, with most roads closed to traffic, after protesters started gathering near the Presidential Palace.

The ministry of interior said in a statement that the suicide bomber blew himself up at a check point in the area.
