Serving 1,500 drinks a day, Dutch Bros to open second Flagstaff location
[Arizona Daily Sun] When most think of traffic congestion in Flagstaff, Milton Road often comes to mind but business for Dutch Bros. Coffee in Aspen Place at the Sawmill may have rivaled it with lines at the drive-thru stacking many cars deep.

However, the neighboring shops and those Dutch Bros. employees might be getting some relief with the opening of a second Flagstaff location.

Samantha Sanchez, the operator of Dutch Bros. Flagstaff, said they have already broken ground on the new store which will be located at the intersection of Fourth Street and Route 66 and is planned to open in the spring of 2019.

"We're really excited about it," Sanchez said, adding that the new location will also mean nearly doubling their 45-employee workforce.

And the new location has been some time in the making, Sanchez said.

Dutch Bros. acquired the lease for the land only about a year after the first location opened in April 2016 Sanchez said, after the Dutch Bros. corporate office identified it as a good location.

At the moment, Sanchez said, they serve about 1,500 drinks a day at the Aspen Place location but with the addition of a second shop, this is sure to increase.

But if neighboring business at Aspen Place hope anything, it’s that the second location will also divert some of their current customers to Fourth Street.

Last month, the real estate company that owns Aspen Place was forced to reconfigure the Dutch Bros. drive-thru to better handle the long lines which had begun to stretch past the neighboring Wildflower Bread Company, about 150 feet away.

"It wasn’t ideal," Sanchez said, estimating that some days, they see as many as 1,000 cars coming through their drive-thru a day.
