Key Taliban leader surrenders to Afghan forces in Jawzjan province

group has surrendered to the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces in northern Jawzjan province of Afghanistan.
The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said Wednesday that the Taliban leader Qudratullah surrendered to the Afghan forces in Qush Tepa district on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a statement released by 209th Shaheen Corps, Qudratullah is originally a resident Mughal Village of Darzab district and is one of the key leaders of the Taliban group in this province.
The statement further added that Qudratullah surrendered himself to the Afghan forces in Qush Tepa district at around 12:30 pm local time on Tuesday.
He has also handed over a motorycle and an Ak-47 assault rifle to the security forces, the statement by 209th Shaheen Corps added.
Jawzjan was among the relatively calm provinces in North of Afghanistan but the security situation in some of its districts has tanked during the recent years.
Both the Taliban and bandidos turbans affiliated with ISIS Khurasan have been attempting to expand their foothold in this province.
