Taliban militants suffer heavy casualties in Takhar and Sar-e-Pul provinces: 209th Shaheen Corps
[KhaamaPress] The Talibs have suffered heavy casualties during the operations conducted in northeastern Takhar and Sar-e-Pul ...a city and eponymous province in northern Afghanistan, population about 500,000. Demographically it is majority Tadjik and Uzbek. There are small Pashtun, Arab, and Hazara ...a grouping of Dari-speaking people of Sino-Tibetan descent inhabiting Afghanistan and Pakistain. They are predominantly Shia Moslems and not particularly warlike, which makes them favored targets...communities, of which the Hazaras mostly don't bother anyone... provinces of Afghanistan, the Afghan Military said Saturday. According to a statement released by 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military, at least 10 Talibs were killed and 9 others were maimed during the  s which were conducted in Dasht-e-Qala district of Takhar province on Saturday morning.The statement further added that the Afghan Commandos also participated in the operations and the shadow district chief of Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... for Darqad Mawlavi Habibi was also maimed in the operations. The 209th Shaheen Corps in a separate statement said at least 4 Talibs were killed and 7 others were maimed during the Walid-36 operations in Sayad district of Sar-e-Pul province. The statement also added that the casualties were inflicted on Taliban on Saturday evening, a day after two key Taliban leaders identified as Mahaz and Qari Gulbuddin were killed along with their 21 fighters in air and artillery strikes in the same area.
