ISIS ambushes US-backed rebels in southern Syria, top commander seriously wounded

(ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) emerged within the U.S.-held Tanf Zone this week to lay an ambush against a group of rebels near the Iraqi border. According to reports, the Islamic State ambushed a vehicle belonging to the commander of the U.S.-backed Jaish Mughawir al-Thoura group as he was traveling through the Tanf Zone. The Jaish Mughawir al-Thoura commander, Mohannad al-Talaa, and two of his bodyguards, were seriously maimed after the Islamic State fired an anti-tank guided missile at the rebel commanders vehicle.
