Syrian Army suffers heavy casualties after ISIS carries out another ambush near Palmyra

(ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) has carried out a bushwhack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in eastern Syria. According to a military source near the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur), the Islamic State ambushed a Syrian Arab Army unit in the small town of al-Kawm, which is north of al-Sukhnah. The source said the Syrian military suffered more than ten casualties as a result of the Islamic State ambush. During the attack, ISIS managed to capture 2 vehicles and a large amount of weapons before they retreated back toward the Syrian desert. The Islamic State has recently increased their activity in the eastern part of Syria, using their sleeper cells to wreak havoc on both the Syrian Arab Army and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). In response to these ambushes, the Syrian Arab Army has sent reinforcements to the Iraqi border in a bid to secure the international highway that goes through the cities of Albukamal and al-Qa’im (Iraqi city).
