Syrian Army struggles to capture key town in northeastern Latakia
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) attempted to enter the key town of Kabani in northeastern Latakia on Saturday, a source told al-Masdar News this morning.

According to the military source, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Armored Division, alongside the Elite Republican Guard, attempted to crack Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
’s lines at the southern axis of Kabani on Saturday afternoon. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
following a fierce firefight, the Syrian Arab Army was forced to withdraw from southern Kabani, the source added.

Over the last two weeks, the Syrian Arab Army has attempted to break into Kabani from the heights just south of the mountaintop town. Each of these attempts have ended the same way for the Syrian Army, forcing them to find another solution to the stiff defenses of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP).

With the recent arrival of several units from the elite Tiger Forces, the Syrian Army will likely try another major assault on Kabani in the coming days. The issue, however, has little to do with manpower in northeast Latakia; instead, the main problem the Syrian Army’s high command is facing has to do with the corpse count.

Every attempt to capture Kabani has resulted in casualties for the Syrian Army and their allies. For this reason, the Syrian Army’s high command has avoided a full-scale assault to capture the town.
