Jihadist offensive fails to yield any gains in northwestern Hama
[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels launched a new attack in northwestern Hama on Friday, targeting the area north of the historical town of Qal’at al-Madiq.
Led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
, the jihadist rebels began their attack by attempting to breach the Syrian Army’s defenses at the northern axis of Huwayz.
The festivities would last for a short period of time and ended once the jihadist forces failed to breach the Syrian Army’s defenses during their second attack on Friday.
A source in northwestern Hama told al-Masdar News that both sides suffered minimal losses, adding that it appeared that the jihadist attack was meant to test the Syrian military’s defenses.
Friday’s attack by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham marked the first time that they have stormed Huwayz since their failed offensive at the Kafr Naboudeh axis.
