prison in a night raid in northern Faryab province on Wednesday night, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement on Thursday.

The night raid was conducted by Afghan commandos with support of Resolute Support forces in Shakh village of Qaisar district where the Taliban prison was destroyed, the statement said.

"At least 20 Taliban terrorists, four members of ISIS and eight foreigners who were among the prisoners were identified and incarcerated

Three Taliban fighters were killed in the operation, the statement added.

Taliban has not commented on this report.

The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said the Afghan forces conducted the operation in Shakh area of Qaisar district.

The Afghan forces transferred the freed hostages to Maimana airport, the 209th Shaheen Corps added.
