With guidance from Train, Advise and Assist Command-Air advisors, the Afghan Air Force began training on airdrop capabilities in October 2016, and conducted their first mission airdrops in July 2017.

This comes as efforts are underway to further bolsters the capabilities of the Afghan armed forces in the fight against the terror groups. As a result, Pentagon awarded $209.9 million contract to a U.S.-based firm to support the C-130H fleet of the Afghan Air Force.
