Afghan forces to receive more advanced rifles from the United States
The Department of Defense in a statement said it has awarded a new contract worth $41,924,594 to Colt’s Manufacturing Co. LLC, West Hartford, Connecticut for the production of M4 and M4A1 carbine rifles. The statement further added that the company will deliver the rifles to Afghan armed forces and the armed forces of Bahrain, Djibouti, Federated States of Micronesia, Hungary, Jordan, Kuwait, Leb, Macedonia, Marshall Islands, Palau, St. Vincent and Grenadines, and Tunisia. Furthermore, the Defense Department said Work locations and funding will be determined with each order. The Department of Defense also added that the company will complete the production and delivery of the rifles until Sept. 18, 2024.
