Turkish-backed militants attack Syrian Army near border city in new bid to advance
[ALMASDARNEWS] A fierce battle broke out this afternoon between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Ottoman Turkish-backed turbans near the border city of Ras al-’Ayn, a source from the military told al-Masdar from the al-Hasakah Governorate.

According to the military source, the festivities broke out when the so-called "Syrian National Army", a coalition of turban groups, attempted to advance into the Syrian Arab Army-held areas in the Tal Tamr District of the al-Hasakah Governorate.

The source said the festivities were most intense near the town of al-Ahras, which is located west of Tal Tamr.

This latest battle marks the first time during the Ankara-led Operation Peace Spring that the Syrian Arab Army and Ottoman Turkish-backed turbans have clashed near the border region.

Today’s attack by the turbans will likely force the entry of the Syrian Arab Army into the battle for Ras al-’Ayn, which is where the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are currently fending off the Ottoman Turkish-led assault.
