'Disgusting': CNN employees 'in shock' WarnerMedia hired Morgan Freeman after sexual harassment allegations
[Washington Examiner] WarnerMedia executives caused some consternation among CNN employees with the decision to hire actor Morgan Freeman to narrate a presentation to investors.
WarnerMedia is CNN’s parent company, and employees from both organizations attended a presentation to WarnerMedia investors on Tuesday, according to Variety. The presentation opened with a video narrated by the famous actor.
The company's decision to hire Freeman for the gig comes after several CNN reporters wrote a 2018 article about eight women who alleged the 82-year-old actor harassed them or engaged in inappropriate conduct.
"It's disgusting," one CNN employee told Variety. "So many of us were scratching our heads in shock, wondering how something like this could even happen."
"Of all the millions of people they could have hired, why him?" another asked.
No CNN employees agreed to speak on the record out of fear of their employer punishing them.
"I did not create unsafe work environments. I did not assault women. I did not offer employment or advancement in exchange for sex. Any suggestion that I did so is completely false," Freeman said in a statement amid backlash from the allegations last year.
