Blast in Takhar Leaves Nine Children Dead
[ToloNews] Nine children were killed on Saturday when a mine planted by "terrorists" went kaboom! as they walked to school, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
The blast occurred in Darqad district in the northeastern province of Takhar.
Another child was maimed in the blast, the ministry said.
Darqad has recently witnessed heavy festivities between security forces and the Taliban

The incident happened at around 9am on Saturday morning when the students were going to school, the statement said.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said the Taliban militants had planted the IED in Tahiraha Village of Darqad district.
The statement further added that the school children were on their to school when stepped on IED which killed nine of them.
The blast happened in Darqad district of Takhar province on Saturday, when the children, aged between eight and 11, stepped on the bomb planted on a road in a Taliban

"In the morning on roadside, nine children were killed in a landmine blast placed by the Taliban. Three children, who were part of the group, are missing," Jawad Hejri, a front man for the Takhar provincial governor, told Al Jazeera.
