IRGC commander: If Internet wasn’t shut down, protests would have spread throughout the country
[IRANINTL] Ali Balali, an IRGC commander said that if the Internet was not shut down in Iran, the protests would have spread all over the country.

He continued: "Just as we are independent in our military, we must become independent in the field of the Internet, and in order to achieve that goal we must empower our domestic messenger apps."

According to NetBlocks, the non-profit global Internet watchdog, during the protests in Iran, Internet access was limited to five percent of the country.
