Today in history: Goa, Daman and Diu were annexed to India from Portuguese rule
Goa, Daman and Diu, situated on the coast of Arabian Sea, were under Portuguese rule for over 400 years. In 1961, India conducted a military invasion of Goa, Daman and Diu. After 36 hours of fighting, the Portuguese forces surrendered on December 19, 1961. Goa, Daman and Due are now Union Territories of India.Posted by: John Frum 2019-12-19 |
