12 hurt in New Year jubilation firing, 15 suspects held
[DAWN] Police authorities have arrested around 15 people for allegedly violating the government ban on firing shots into the air to herald New Year, which caused injuries to 12 persons, including three women and a minor girl, officials and rescue services said on Wednesday.

According to hospital sources, 12 persons were shot at and maimed owing to jubilation firing carried out in different parts of the city on Tuesday night.
Out of them, six maimed persons were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, said Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the hospital. None of them sustained life-threatening wounds.
Five more injured were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital while one person was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Bloody Karachi

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that a minor girl was hurt in Gulshan-e-Iqbal who was taken to a private hospital.
The rescue service official added Um-e-Banim, 12, was shot at and maimed near her residence in Block-4 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, when unknown persons resorted to firing. She was taken to the Aga Khan University Hospital for further treatment.
The Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that among the injured were three women.
