54 Metro barangays under âNPA threatâ
AT least 54 barangays in Metro Manila are âunder threatâ by communist rebels in connection with the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Monday, according to Âpolice intelligence reports. A report by the Regional Investigation and Intelligence ÂDivision of the National Capital Region Police Office (RIID-NCRPO) said that based on recent activities, communist rebels were interested in the outcome of the barangay elections in Metro Manila. "We are the Vanguard of the Proletariat®, dammit! Put that embalming fluid away! We're warning you, we have guns...!" The Commission on Elections also raised Âconcern over the possible bloody spillover of family feuds in Mindanao into areas in the metropolis where there are large Muslim communities.
