- The gunman, who has not been identified, was shot dead by security forces
- According to USNI News, the shooter was described as being an 'Arab male'
- Authorities responded to active shooter at station's North Gate around 6.15am
- Officials said in statement that gunman had been 'neutralized' a short time later
- The Navy confirmed that one security force member was injured during incident
- Base employs more than 9,700 people, including 1,900 active duty personnel
