End of the dream-job era in the Arabian Gulf
From a week ago, but I think still interesting. [AlAhram] The Covid-19 pandemic has led to growing pressure for the wealthy Gulf states to deport expatriate workers.The presence of voices in the Gulf against the expatriate communities that make up the majority of the populations of many of the states in the region are not unprecedented, but with the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)  ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...pandemic and its economic consequences, exacerbated in the Gulf by a sharp drop in oil prices, such voices are becoming louder and more widespread.
