Christopher Columbus statue near entrance of Detroit-Windsor Tunnel has been removed
 [FREEP] The 110-year-old bust of Christopher Columbus near the entrance of the bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang... -Windsor Tunnel could be gone for good. The city has decided to place the statue in storage. "The mayor decided it ought to be placed in storage to give us time to evaluate the appropriate long-term disposition of the statue," said John Roach, a front man for the mayor's office. Last week, a sign that read "Looter. Rapist. Slave Trader." was placed around the neck of the bust. It was one in a series of attacks on depictions of the explorer across the nation. More: Detroit's Christopher Columbus statue among those targeted across the nation Below the three words, the sign continues with the Ojibwe phrase, "Debwen maadash ge gwaya da wiindmaage," which translates to, "Tell the truth or someone is telling." The display is no stranger to attacks. In 2017, Detroit City Councilwoman Raquel Castañeda-López called for the removal of the bust alongside the designation of Indigenous peoples' day.
