3 Police Killed in Herat Roadside Mine Blast
[ToloNews] At least three coppers were killed and three others were maimed in a roadside mine blast in the Kohistan...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns.... district of Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... on the Herat-Islam Qala highway on Saturday, local officials said. The incident happened around 100 km away from Herat city as a police vehicle struck a roadside mine, said Amindullah Haft Bala, district governor of Kohsan district. "The mine was placed by the Taliban  ...Arabic for students... to target the security forces," he said. The victims have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
