Man taken into custody over 1-year-old’s shooting death in Brooklyn
[NYPOST] Cops have taken into custody one person of interest in the shooting death of 1-year-old Davell Gardner in Brooklyn, a high-ranking police source said Thursday.Deshawn Austin was picked up on Ralph Avenue near East 76th Street around 8:30 a.m. by the Regional Fugitive Task Force, the source said. The alleged Hoolie Blood gang member is accused of fatally shooting a member of another gang on Nostrand Avenue near Herkimer Street back in March, according to the source. He has not been charged in connection to little Davell’s death, but investigators believe he is linked to that crime as well as three non-fatal shootings, the source said. He is being questioned at the 79th Precinct, sources said. Davell died when two gunmen opened fire on a Bedford-Stuyvesant barbecue he was at around 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The fugitive task force is a team made up jointly of the NYPD and US Marshals Service. Officials at the federal agency did not immediately respond to a request for information Thursday.
