Schiff: After Trump Is Gone We Will Continue to Investigate and ‘Expose What He Did’

In a manner reminiscent of Joe McCarthy, on March 22, 2017, in a interview with Chuck Todd on MSNBC Schiff claimed there was “more than circumstantial evidence now” that Donald Trump's campaign colluded with Russia." Todd followed up by asking if he had seen direct evidence of collusion and Schiff responded that there was "evidence that is not circumstantial and is very much worthy of investigation"...(D-CA) said investigations into President Donald Trump ...His ancestors didn't own any slaves... would continue after he leaves office. Schiff said, "After the election, after he’s gone, then I think we have to continue to expose what he did in office because, of course, the administration has stonewalled us in every way it can. They have stonewalled every subpoena, every request for information. There is a lot more evidence of the president’s wrongdoing that is being withheld and will be withheld as long as he is in office." On the court battles over Congress’ subpoenas of Trump’s financial records, Schiff said, We are going to pursue them now. They may well be able to stonewall them up and through the fall. Frankly, for me, the issue is less about getting the records before November, it’s about getting them while the country is at risk. We don’t know why this president is so beholden to Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... . Is it just his affinity for dictators? Is it just his administration for Putin? Is it his insecurity? Or is it his financial interests in Russia or with Russian oligarchs? This is why the withholding of these financial records id dangerous because we don’t know if this president is compromised." He added, "So we are going to persist with that litigation.
