US Customs seizes Venezuela-bound private jet in Florida loaded with 82 firearms including a sniper rifle and 63,000 rounds of ammunition - and charges the two pilots with smuggling
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] - A private jet loaded with weapons and cash was stopped from leaving Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Saturday
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection intercepted the plane bound for Venezuela
- Its pilots Luis Alberto Patino, 36, and Gregori Mendez, 40, were arrested
- They are charged with smuggling bulk cash and goods from the U.S.
- They also face charges of illegally possessing firearms as aliens
- 82 firearms, including a sniper rifle, plus 63,000 rounds of ammunition were found on the aircraft
- It is not clear why the weapons were purchased
