Florida high school principal who was fired for refusing to say the Holocaust was a 'factual, historical event' in an email to a parent is REHIRED and handed $150k in backpay
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] - The decision to rehire and compensate former Spanish River Community High School Principal William Latson came following a 4-3 vote Wednesday
- Watson was fired last year for emails he sent in April 2018, in which he said the Holocaust is a ‘belief’ that children at the school won’t be ‘forced’ to learn
- But in August, an administrative law judge ruled that the school district lacked sufficient grounds for termination and recommended he be reinstated
- That ruling was accepted by the board, though they voiced their reluctance
- Latson will not return to Spanish River, he will instead will be placed in the district's assessment department as a 'principal on assignment'
- The decision followed expressions of anger from board members and 90 minutes of recorded voicemails from Holocaust survivors
