Taliban Attack in Herat Rebuffed, 11 Killed
[KhaamaPress] At least 11 Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban...killed and further three maimed after they carried an attack Thursday against the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in Pashtoon Zarghon districts of Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... province, said the Ministry of Defense in a statement. "11 Taliban were killed and 3 others were maimed after they attacked #ANDSF positions in Pashton Zarghon district of Herat province, yesterday," said the MOD in a tweet. Earlier, at least 12 Taliban killed and further seven maimed during an operation by Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in Maiwand and Zherai districts of Kandahar province, said the Ministry of Defense in a statement. "12 Taliban were killed and 7 others were maimed in Maiwand and Zherai districts of Kandahar province during reciprocal operation of #ANDSF, last night," said the MoD in a tweet. Officials did not provide further details on the possible casualties the Afghan forces may have suffered during the operation but said "a large amount of their weapons and ammunitions were destroyed."
