Russian FSB shuts down 28 clandestine weapons workshops
NIZHNY NOVGOROD , February 2, 2021 , 17:04 - REGNUMIllegal workshops for the production of military weapons and ammunition have been discovered in more than ten regions of Russia. Part of the network of clandestine weapons workshops was found in the Nizhny Novgorod region. FSB officers detained Nizhny Novgorod residents suspected of involvement in the case. According to the newspaper, “illegal gunsmiths, in addition to the Nizhny Novgorod region, have also been identified in Moscow, the republics of Karelia, Komi, Mordovia, Khabarovsk and Krasnodar regions, Belgorod, Vologda, Voronezh, Kaluga, Leningrad, Moscow, Irkutsk, Rostov, Samara, Smolensk, Sverdlovsk and Tomsk regions ".

The FSB reported 43 arrested and the termination of the activities of 28 clandestine workshops for the modernization of weapons and the manufacture of ammunition.

“A 50-mm infantry mortar and a 45-mm cannon, 191 firearms of domestic and foreign production were withdrawn from the workshops. The ministry clarifies that among the seized were also machine guns "Maxim" and "RPK", 18 assault rifles ("AKM", "AKS-74U", "AK-103", "AK-104"), a special sniper rifle "Vintorez", eight submachine guns, 48 ​​rifles and carbines, 113 pistols and revolvers, 27 mortar mines of various calibers, 45 F-1 and RGD-5 hand grenades, over 26 thousand cartridges, 34.5 kg of gunpowder and TNT , ”writes NIA Nizhny Novgorod".
