on a roadside in a key highway in the southern province of Uruzgan on Saturday morning, an official said.

Uruzgan governor Mohammad Omar Shirzad said the earth-shattering kaboom happened in the Sorkhbait area on the outskirts of Tarinkot city, the center of the province.

Shirzad said four more, including three children and a woman who were traveling in the same vehicle, were maimed in the earth-shattering kaboom.

No group has grabbed credit for the attack.

This comes amidst a sharp increase in violence in the country despite peace efforts.

Figures by security agencies indicate that roughly 30 security force members and civilians were either killed or maimed in attacks and security incidents in 10 provinces on Thursday and Friday.
