Italy’s Defence Minister: Ceasefire in Libya Remains Fragile
On Thursday, Italian Defense Minister; Lorenzo Guerini said that the ceasefire in Libya remains fragile. This comes despite the significant progress made in the political process and the formation of the new Government of National Unity (GNU) in UN-led talks in Geneva.Guerini said, in a joint hearing with the defence committees of the Italian House of Representatives and Senate that the ceasefire in Libya remains at risk. This is due to the presence of foreign forces, militias, and mercenaries who would eventually lead to the failure of the ceasefire agreement.
