The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved the music of the nineteenth-century Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky as a replacement for the Russian anthem at the 2021 and 2022 Olympics, which will be held in Tokyo and Beijing, respectively.
