Portland mayor calls shooting that injures six, kills one 'senseless'
[NYPOST] One woman was killed and six others suffered bullets wounds in a "senseless" mass shooting in Portland Saturday, according to the local police department and mayor.
Were they shot in the buttocks?
An 18-year-old woman, who has not yet been publicly identified, died at a Portland hospital after gunfire struck seven victims around 2 a.m., according to the Portland police department and reports. The other six victims' wounds are not life-threatening, cops said.
Police said an investigation into the shooting — which occurred in downtown Portland on the block of Southwest 3rd Avenue — is underway. No arrests have been made, police said.
Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell said cops came to an "extremely chaotic" situation after the shooting, according to reports.
Witness Filiberto Saldana told The Oregonian he was cooking in his food truck when he suddenly heard the gunshots and saw a dark blue vehicle speeding away from the scene.
"The next thing I know I heard people running," Saldana said, according to The Oregonian. "We just saw a car going fast in front of us."
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler
...Poindextrous lefty Dem mayor of Portland, Oregon. Allowed a year and a half of Antifa/BLM riots to destroy downtown sections of his city while playing catch and release with the perpetrators and hamstringing his police. He got reelected in the course of all that because the alternative was worse. He has yet to accomplish anything of substance, unless destroying a fairly pleasant city counts...
was "heartbroken" by the "senseless" fatal shooting.
"What happened early this morning is devastating. It's tragic and it's senseless," Wheeler said at a presser after the shooting, according to a local CBS affiliate. "Anytime lives are lost, when people are injured because of gun violence, I feel myself feeling heartbroken, but at the same time, angry."
"We have clearly a gun violence problem in our community," he reportedly added. "We have a homicide problem in our community and the community should expect that we will have the adequate resources."
