They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....

Ishfaq Dar alias Abu Akram was a top terrorist of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba, Kashmir police IGP, Vijay Kumar said. He had been active within the outfit since 2017.
A Big Turban in only four years? He must have been extraordinary — or the top ranks thinned remarkably to allow such rapid advancement.
The operation was launched at Check Sadiq Khan area in Shopian, following a tip off about the presence of terrorists.

The cordon and search operation turned into an encounter after the Lions of Islam fired at the security forces.
Henchman #1’s head shot up. “Hark!” he ejaculated. “My SpideySense (TM) is tingling, Commence shooting in all directions!”
And so they did.
Abu Akram had deserted the police force in 2017.

On July 16, the security forces bumped off two Lions of Islam of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba in an encounter at the Danmar area of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

A joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF joined a cordon and search operation in the Alameda Colony of Danmar following a tip off. The area was then cordoned off by security forces.

This operation comes in the backdrop of another encounter that took place on Wednesday in which three bad boyz were potted in Pulwama. While two of those died were locals, the third was Abu Huraira, a commander of Pakistain origin.

With these encounters, the number of Lions of Islam bumped off in the Valley this year has gone up to 80.
Or possibly 200 or so. Once on the lam, who can say what quietly happened to them on a lonely country lane in the dead of night?
Of these 41 were from the Lashkar-e-Tayiba, while the rest were from the Hizbul Mujahideen
