Troops hunting for suspects who crossed into Israel from Lebanon
[IsraelTimes] Residents in two towns near border told to stay in their homes, some roads closed as soldiers attempt to find pair amid rising tensions.

Soldiers were carrying out searches for two suspects who crossed into the country from Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers, a practice dating back to the heady human sacrifice days of Baal Moloch. In 2020 Hezbollahblew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate faci8lity exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. early Thursday, the army said, amid rising tensions along the restive northern frontier.

Troops were deployed to the area around the towns of Dovev and Baram near the Blue Line with Lebanon at around 2 a.m. after two suspicious people were spotted crossing the border fence into Israel, according to Hebrew media reports.

"At this hour, Israeli forces are in pursuit of two suspects and using an array of utilities to stop them," the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement just before 6 a.m.

Flares and aircraft were being utilized in the search, Hebrew media reports said.

The military said people in two towns near the search area — apparently Dovev and Baram — had been ordered to remain inside.

"Troops are isolating the area where the suspects are, which includes deploying forces and blocking roads," the army said.

s on sites near Aleppo apparently connected to Iranian-backed militias. A second Israeli sortie was reported early Thursday.

It was unclear if the suspected incident was connected to the tensions. Lebanon is in the midst of a devastating economic and political crisis that has seen its currency bottom out and sent masses into the streets to protest.

In early June, two Ottoman Turkish nationals crossed into Israel from Lebanon, apparently looking for work. They were arrested after a 12-hour manhunt.
