  • Newsom had hoped to use Harris to draw out Democratic turnout in the recall election as he slips in the polls

  • A short time later, Harris' spokeswoman tweeted that she would be returning to DC instead, Newsom's campaign canceled the event

  • It is unclear whether it will be rescheduled
