White House blames the beef, pork and poultry industry for 50% of grocery stores price rises and announces crackdown on meatpacking 'pandemic profiteering'

- National Economic Council Director Brian Deese and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack appeared at Wednesday's press briefing
- About half of the overall increase in grocery prices are coming from significant hikes in the cost of beef, pork and poulty, Deese said
- Four companies control much of the U.S. meat processing market, and White House officials blamed those companies for rising food prices
- He and Vilsack outlined some of the steps the adminitration is taking to mitigate what Deese called 'pandemic profiteering' from the top companies
