Jared Polis becomes first governor in same-sex marriage as he ties knot with partner in small Jewish ceremony in Colorado

- Gov. Polis became the first openly gay man elected governor and the state's first Jewish governor when he was sworn into office in January 2019
- The couple were married in a small traditional Jewish ceremony at the University of Colorado- Boulder in an event honoring their home state
- Polis and Reis were married on the 18th anniversary of their first date
- All guests were required to test negative before attending the outdoor event
- Polis proposed to Reis in December wanting to give his children a happy memory before they drove Reis to the hospital due to his worsening COVID symptoms
