New York State hospitals immediately suspended and fired HUNDREDS of workers who refused to comply with vaccine mandate

- Hundreds of healthcare workers across the state have been suspended without pay and will lose their jobs in the coming days if they do not get the vaccine
- Of the 43,000 employees at the New York City's 11 public hospitals, about 5,000 were not vaccinated according to head of NYC Health + Hospitals on Monday
- Some hospitals say over 90% of staff are vaccinated, but others reported vaccination rates of under 70% last week
- Healthcare workers fired for refusing to get vaccinated will not be eligible for unemployment insurance

Novant Health, which has more than 35,000 employees in 15 hospitals and 800 clinics, mandated that its employees get vaccinated late July.
They had until September 15 to comply. Last week, about 375 employees were suspended for not being vaccinated, but 200 received the jab before Monday's deadline, Spokesperson Megan Rivers said.
Rivers didn't say how many workers were granted exemptions, but Novant Health acknowledged that some were and required them to undergo weekly coronavirus testing. They also must wear N95 respirator masks or other personal protective equipment and eyewear protection while working in Novant Health facilities.
The large wave of terminations follows the Delaware-based healthcare system ChristianaCare, which fired 150 employees earlier this week for not getting vaccinated.

- Said it would lead to staffing issues and further exacerbate the border crisis
- 'While our border is facing this serious crisis, we learned that you are threatening to terminate a significant portion of CBP workforce,' they wrote
