China’s Shanxi province inflicted $770 million economic loss due to flood

[KhaamaPress] Continuous downpours that triggered floods affected nearly two million people in Shanxi province of China and inflected the province $770 million direct economic loss.

The floods that have reportedly killed 15 people also made 120,000 people evacuate.

The state-run Global Times reported on Tuesday that at least 1.75 million people have been affected by the floods and 19,500 houses collapsed.

In the northern province of China which is known for its coal mines, many parts of the province are landlocked that generally has dry weather saw record-breaking rainfall over the past week.

As per the information, at least 60 coal mines have been suspended due to the flood.

In addition, an estimated 190,000 hectares of crops were also destroyed.
