Scott MacInnes was knocked to the ground Monday by either one or both of the animals and sustained bites to the abdomen, head, neck, face and leg, the Anchorage Daily News reported. But the bears abruptly broke off their attack and MacInnes was able to escape to a house nearby. | "Bloody feet, don't fail me now!" |
He underwent surgery at Central Peninsula General Hospital later that day.
"He'll recover," said sister Ann Mize of Anchorage. "He's lucky to be alive. He'll be in the hospital for at least a week."
