About 200 Red Army soldiers were exhumed September 2021
[YouTube] About 200 Red Army soldiers were exhumed September 2021. At present, we cannot determine the exact number, because the corpses were stacked on top of each other in a mass burial, and secondly, there were parts of individual bodies that were collected from the battlefield in the summer of 1945.
These battles took place in the Kurland region in Latvia.
The identification of the soldiers is complicated because the battles in this front sector took place from November 1944 to February 1945 and at least ten different Red Army units fought here at different times. Only one medal with a number was found. We hope that this medal will provide valuable information about this soldier and the burial.
I have yet to see an update from the Mius Rver Front Exhumation project. The Mius Front was yet another bloody, post Stalingrad battle.
This project uses retired Russian Army officers and "borrowed" Russian Army conscripts.
