UNICEF Supported Classes for Over 140K Afghan Children
[ToloNews] The UN Children Fund (UNICEF) supported over 5,000 educational communities to provide learning opportunities for at least 142,700 children within the past three months, the organization said on Friday.

"In the past 3 months, UNICEF supported 5,350 community-based education classes ensuring access to learning for more than 142,700 children across Afghanistan," the UNICEF Afghanistan said on Twitter. "Yet more needs to be done, over 4 million children are still out of school, more than half are girls."

The Ottoman Turkish Maarif Foundation said that it has held entrance exams for students who seek to attend the Afghan-Turk Schools across the country.
The Maarif Foundation was established by the Erdogan government in 2016 to run confiscated Gulen schools around the world, including all thirteen in Afghanistan.
According to the foundation, of 3,500 students, 1,000 of them would be recruited.

"Over 1,000 native Ottoman Turkish employees in the administrative and educational department are present in Afghanistan currently. We are committed to providing service in Afghanistan," said Saleh Mohammad Saghir, head of the foundation in Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Education praised the facilitation of education programs for the children.

," said, Ihsanullah Khitab, head of the Kabul education department.

Teachers and heads of the entrance exams for the Afghan-Turk schools said that the number of students participating has dropped compared to previous years.

"The number of participants was high in the previous years," said Omid Sapai, a teacher.

"The recent changes had its affect on the student’s enrollment," said Abdul Baqi Oriakhail, a teacher.
