Cafeteria allegedly attacked by Salafist group in western Iran

The group is reportedly affiliated to the country’s Salafi movement. An informed source told Rudaw on the condition of anonymity on Thursday that a group of people riding cycle of violences attacked Lawa Cafeteria in Javanrud at 9pm on Wednesday, using Kalashnikov rifles. Two people were maimed in the attack. The attackers then had gun sex in three places of the city, citing Islamic slogans like "Allahu Akbar," added the source. Some residents of the city and social media users claimed that the group is affiliated to the Salafi movement. Local media cited police as saying that they have detained two of the attackers and confiscated their weapons. Javanrud is a Kurdish-populated city in Kermanshah Province. Salafist centers in towns and villages across the Kurdish areas of Iran have been propped up by preachers who travelled cross-country from Baluchestan.
