Inflation in 2021 7.0%; Highest since 1982
[BLSGOV] Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.5 percent in December on a seasonally adjusted basis after rising 0.8 percent in November, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 7.0 percent before seasonal adjustment.This BLS report doesn't show the time series to the 1980s. But that info is available many places. The peak inflation in the Carter years was 1979 when it was above 13%. What is remarkable to me is that 10 year and 30 year Treasury Bonds are about 1.7% and 2.1% respectively.
